SEM Training

SEM Training starts with a series of videos on OWL and takes about 2.5 hours to complete. We will cover the basics of SEM imaging, including a discussion of imaging conditions.

Users are then required to schedule a 1.5-2 hour session to independently practice SEM operation and imaging. Instruction on loading and unloading samples will be covered during this session. Users should not bring their own samples to this first session, suitable practice samples will be provided.

Upon successful completion of a third session with the microscope, typically imaging their own samples, users will be authorized and able to use the 1530 SEM without direct supervision.

Training on the 1540XB FIB/SEM can begin once 1530 training is complete.
